ON Jubilee Sunday I was walking around Roughlee when the sky darkened and thunder and lightning was followed by heavy rain.
This set me thinking just how our wildlife copes with storms.
Birds and mammals ignore our flash photography because they think it is just a flash of lightning.
I found this to be true when I photographed badgers. One badger ignored the camera and continued to drink the rain water which had collected in the hollow of an oak tree. Continual rain is not good for wildlife but neither is prolonged heat. What is needed is lots of sunshine and an occasional downpour to create a balance.
How about hot days and wet nights?
