I TOTALLY agree with Mr John Shorrock's comments (Letters, June 10) regarding the closure of Blackburn Infirmary. I have had two cataract operations and two complete hip replacements in this hospital and I could not have had better treatment anywhere.
The closure of this hospital, which has served the public for many years, will be a big mistake, as patients will find out when they have to travel to the back of beyond to Queen's Park Hospital.
If this closure has to take place, and in view of what is taking place at the moment regarding care homes, why not consider converting this fine building into a three-star residential nursing home? Then all the care homes could be closed and the residents would all be under one roof.
If this happened, there would be a long waiting list to get in, as the accommodation would be ideal and there are super views of the surroundings of Blackburn from many of the windows.
