HELICOPTERS and jets gave a stunning display over the skies of Blackburn, while their pilots kept their feet firmly on the ground.

Model aircraft enthusiasts turned out in droves to Blackburn and District Model Aircraft Club's show their annual show.

Fans of the miniature flyers from across the country were at Pleasington playing fields to show off their skills and marvel at those of others.

Hundreds of spectators watched the free show which included a display by some larger aircraft over both days at the weekend.

More than 30 model aircraft also took to the skies for their own miniature displays.

Modelling expert John Bridge, who was injured in the Tiger Moth crash at Spring Wood, Whalley, a few years ago, gave the commentary.

There were also prizes including the best junior entry and the best scale aircraft.

Club honorary secretary Kevin Watson said: "The weather was better than last year and again we have had people from all over the country."

Organisers hope to have topped the £300 raised for charity by last year's event. This year any money raised will go to Derian House children's hospice, Chorley.
