THE continuing violence in Gujarat was discussed at a unique meeting in Blackburn.
Over a thousand people attended the meeting at Masjid-e-Sajedeen on Plane Tree Road in Little Harwood to listen to a speech by Maulana Mahmood As'ad Madani, General Secretary of Jamiat Ulama-I-Hind (JUH).
The aim of the event was to create more awareness of the desperate situation of some in India's Gujarat region. The JUH Trust Establishments work in a variety of educational and social welfare projects. One of it's many activities is relief work.
A major in-depth report has been compiled by JUH, which catalogued the thousands of deaths in the region. The report aims to bring to the fore much of the slaughter and carnage which has still to be unaccounted for. The in-depth report is available at www.jamiatulamahind.org.
As well speaking at the event Maulana Madani attended the Quwwatul-Islam-Masjid in Preston to meet with local Imams and senior Masjid committee members. After a meeting with Jack Straw, Moulana Madani left for Batley and Leicester.
