I HAD to smile to myself after reading the article (LET, June 13) regarding Coronation Street and the references made to Curly Watts by Councillor Bill Taylor.
What a laugh! This a soap opera we're talking about although at times Blackburn with Darwen cleansing comes a very close second to one.
The refuse collectors do a sterling job. It is at a higher level where the problems lie.
Last week, I phoned the council to see if I could have two patio doors removed as my husband had fitted new ones. They said they would remove them but there would be a charge of £25 as patio doors were classed as part of the building.
I questioned this because as far as I am concerned a door is a door whether it be interior or exterior. I was also told that if I would like to take them to the tip myself, I could do so for free.
So if anyone in Darwen sees a middle aged couple walking up the main street with a door on each of their backs, they'll know where we're going!
This is evidently council policy. What a load of rubbish! No wonder there are fly tippers in Blackburn and Darwen.
