THE competition to design, make and present a gift to Her Majesty The Queen is now in its third week.
Entries are pouring in and the judges will certainly have a difficult task choosing from them all.
Sir Tom Finney is on the panel chaired by the Lord Lieutenant, Lord Shuttleworth, alongside the group editor of the Citizens, Kevin Young, and other famous Lancashire folk.
Whoever's gift is chosen will get to present it personally to The Queen when she visits Lancashire on August 5.
Sir Tom, who has already met Her Majesty three times, said: "I met her when I received my awards. She doesn't get a lot of time to talk, but she is very, very nice.
"This competition is a great idea. It's a very nice thought, and I think she will appreciate it.
"I'm sure there will be all sorts of gift ideas, and a lot of people will welcome the opportunity of doing something like this. It's nice to be able to give her something to remember Lancashire by."
The competition to make a souvenir gift for Her Majesty is open to individuals, groups, organisations and businesses. The closing date is July 4 and entrants will be invited to County Hall, in Preston, to show off their entries to the panel of independent judges, which will include some famous Lancashire folk.
To enter, write down in no more than 50 words what it is you would like to present to The Queen. You may wish to explain why your gift idea is significant, as judges may take this into account when making their decision.
Send your gift idea to the Jubilee Gift Competition, The Citizen, 3, Winckley Court, Chapel Street, Preston, PR1 3JJ. And be prepared to present your gift to the judging panel during the first week after the closing date.
Remember to include your name, address, and day time phone number. Winners must be available on August 5 to present their gift to The Queen. The judges' decision is final, no correspondence will be entered into.
