THE Information Morning held by the Padiham Market Town Initiative Group led by Karin Wilson at The Methodist Church was well attended.
Members of the team on hand included District Councillor John Harbour, Gawthorpe Environmental Movement representative Steve Taylor, Chairman of Hapton Parish Council Joan Lakeland and several Padiham residents.
One prominent and very busy stall was the Padiham Sports Club information unit manned by Alan Smith, the club secretary.
He spoke about the initiatives already taking place in Padiham's sporting circles and those planned for the future.
Padiham's Sports Club was formed in 1947 to act as trustees for the Arbories Memorial Sports Ground, dedicated as a living memorial to the 54 Padiham men who died during World War Two.
Coun David Barritt was elected vice chairman at the meeting of Hapton Parish Council.
Local residents have expressed concern about the amount of tipping occurring at the site of Hapton Hall Farm.
Residents of Water Street are anxious for the early return of the garden seat which was removed by Burnley Council, early in the Spring, to be repainted. It is greatly missed, especially on warm summer days.
Good news for readers in Hapton. From Friday, June 28, the mobile library will visit every second Friday instead of Mondays.
A Monday visit meant that if a Bank Holiday fell on the library day it was postponed, making a month between visits. The library was also cancelled if the librarian was ill or on holiday. Now he will be replaced on these occasions.
These moves are welcomed by parishioners who view the library as an essential resource.
'Rec' danger for children
HAPTON Parish Council has voiced concerns that motorists are driving across the recreation ground when they are actively encouraging parishioners to use it.
The council has expressed the view that until the 'rec' is safe, they are not happy to let children play on it.
