AMARPAL SINGH of Tyldesley is making a big name for himself in the world of Taekwando.

Although born in India the 23-year-old now lives in Crawford Avenue, but recently travelled to Alberta to take part in the Canadian Championships invitational meet, where he bagged two silver medals.

Despite being just 5' 8" in the heavyweight division, he impressed so much over there that the renowned Master Hung Tasa has invited Amarpal back for more training and tournaments.

At present he is a red belt, but his next challenge will be to take his black belt tests, which he hopes to do in South Korea.

At present he does not qualify to represent the UK in competition but would like to gain British citizenship.
