ROYCE'S Gym in Hindley has broken the world record for rowing over 100,000m by five minutes.
The team of 10 men rowed the distance in four hours, 17 minutes, 52.6 seconds, stealing the record from the previous holders Leander Club, whose team included Steve Redgrave and Matthew Pinsent.
The Royce's Gym team were one minute ahead after 20,000m and two minutes and 46 seconds ahead at the half way stage. The team knocked five minutes and 40 seconds off the existing record.
