LEIGH'S thriving bingo club has outgrown its Windermere Road premises after a lucky seven years.

With 30,000 members, parking at the old fire station site has become a problem for Shipley's who are now looking at plans to move to bigger premises on the other side of town.

The company is negotiating to move to the former Co-op Pioneer Stores in Ellesmere Street where another 300 to 400 members could be accommodated at the most luxurious bingo club in the north west.

Club manager for the past three years, Dave Hillary, said: "I can't say very much at the moment, but I can confirm that we are looking to move to a larger place.

"We have over 30,000 members, who come from all over the country, on the books, and as you can imagine that means parking here can prove something of a problem.

"I have watched this club grow to an amazing success in my time. I drive from Doncaster every day but being in charge here is well worth the journey.

"Plans are in the pipeline but there is nothing concrete at the moment. Any schemes we develop will be subject to the granting of a new licence later in the year."

It is believed that if all goes well the present Shipley's could be transformed into a multi-purpose theatre.
