THE Pendle and Burnley Grand Prix reaches the halfway mark on Friday evening with the Barrowford Fell Race which is six miles of road, towpath and fell.

Competitors can still enter even if they have missed the earlier rounds.

It starts at 7pm from the Pendle Heritage Centre at Barrowford.

CHORLEY AC'S "On the Run" Park Series continues on Friday night with the third 5K race of the summer within the safe confines of Astley Park. Entries on the night will be taken at the Main Park Gates on Park Road. A one mile junior race is at 6:30pm while the seniors set off at 7pm.

THE Longroft Engineering Calder Valley Fellrunners Midsummer Madness Three-Day Event is this weekend.

The series which takes in three fell races in West Yorkshire, starts with the Wicken Hill Whizz on Friday evening at 7.30pm. The Tom Tittiman is at 3pm on Saturday and the Reservoir Bogs is on Sunday at 11am. For more details call Allan Greenwood on 07866-043572.

THE Baxenden 5K Trail Race is on Saturday at 2pm. Starting from Baxenden CE Primary School it is a fast out and back course with a sting in the tail. A one mile fun run for Under 15s is at 1.30pm.

RED ROSE ROAD RUNNERS are promoting the Grimsargh Field Day Fun Run on Saturday afternoon at 2.45pm. Approximately two miles long, the start is from the Grimsargh Village Green on Preston Road.

THE British Fell Championship visits Scotland for the Eildon Two Hills Race on Saturday.

It is 4.5M long and includes 1,500ft of ascent, the venue is Greenyards, Melrose. The men's race is at 2pm and the women run at 3pm.

ROUND Seven of the Pendle and Burnley Grand Prix is Sunday's Hendon Brook 13.5M Road Race. Held over a tough course, the start is at Marsden Golf Club, Nelson, at 11am.

No entries will be accepted on the day for Sunday's Marathon and Half Marathon but organiser Ron McAndrew will take your entry up to and including Saturday.

TOP athletes are bound to be attracted to Sunday's Manchester 10K where the men and women will both be chasing first prizes of £500. However, at £10, it is expensive to enter. Registration is at the Y-Club, Castlefield.

Start is outside Manchester Town Hall, Albert Square at 9.15am and the finish is at Castlefield Arena off Liverpool Road.

BLACKBURN HARRIERS will be hosting an Open Track and Field Meeting at Witton Park on Tuesday. There will be a complete programme of events including hurdles, sprints, middle distance, throws and jumps and athletes from Under 11 to seniors will be welcome.

THE second Harrock Hill Fell Race of the summer is on Wednesday at 7.30pm. The 5M/900ft race is from the Farmers Arms, Bispham, the same venue as the Parbold Hill Race.
