LEIGH Centurions and the Wigan Education Business Partnership (WEBP) have joined forces to launch a new and exciting project aimed at making numeracy more fun and easier to learn for local schoolchildren.
The partnership between the Centurion Opportunity Project (COP) and the WEBP has made use of the latest concept of virtual reality media to deliver the most advanced learning skills for pupils in key stage one and two numeracy through the sport of rugby league.
As part of the pupils curriculum activity, the children visit the on site Leigh Centurions classroom. The aim is to provide pupils with a clear concept of nuimeracy in everyday action in relation to the activities at Hilton Park. Following their day visit a seconded teacher visits each school and using the latest ICT concepts, the Interactive White Board, pupils then participate in set numeracy tasks.
The result is a virtual reality tour of the ground, covering many aspects of the IT curriculum.
Centurion Opportunity Project manager, Jason Donohue, says: "We are delighted that COP and the WEBP partnership will provide Leigh pupils with the latest ICT concepts to aid their numeracy skills, using rugby league and Hilton Park as a local centre."
