BURY ended up with a useful haul of medals from the Greater Manchester Youth Games held at Wigan's Robin Park last weekend.
Local youngsters captured gold in the boys Under-11 hockey event and the water polo, silver in the Under-14 girls rugby union and bronze in the athletics, boys basketball, Under-13 girls hockey and Under-15s girls hockey.
Over 3,500 children from all over Greater Manchester competed in 26 separate competitions in what was the largest youth games in the UK.
They are the culmination of year round development programmes, running under the GreaterSport brand, throughout the ten boroughs of Greater Manchester and in total around 95,000 children between the ages of 10 and 16 take part in the initiatives.
This was the 13th staging of the event and it is seen as a fantastic stepping stone for some of the country's top sportsmen and women.
