IN-TENT TO STEAL: A six-berth frame tent with guy ropes and pegs, valued at £150 was stolen. It belonged to Mr Peter Andries of Lindale Avenue, Sunnybank, Bury.
He had erected the tent on a plot of land at the rear of a Radcliffe school to patch it and had left it overnight to dry out.
PLAY SCHOOL: For people who were not sure how a holiday playscheme worked the Play Council of Bury Metro Council for Voluntary Services ran a one-day event to explain the facility.
GIZZA JOB: Unemployment in Bury rose sharply due to the number of school leavers who failed to find a job. The total of 1,628 people out of work in the borough was an increase of 315 which included 224 young people.
MOVE ON UP: A new executive-style, three-bedroom detached house at Hunt Fold Farm in Greenmount, which featured full gas central heating, garage and a coloured bath suite, was on offer at £14,450.
