DOG walkers could be collared to tune of £50 if their pets foul in public areas.
As from Monday (June 24), dog wardens in the borough will be entitled to hand out £50 fixed penalty fines to dog owners.
The new fines come after a series of public exhibitions and advice sessions by Bury Council's dog warden service.
Parks and all highways will be included under the "no pooping" penalty zones.
Dog Warden Janet Rix warned: "Today, Friday, sees the end of National Poop Scoop Week during which we have been touring the borough handing out poop scoops to dog walkers and reminding them of their responsibilities in looking after the environment.
"As from Monday anyone seen allowing their dogs to foul the pavements, roads or public areas will be issued with a fixed penalty notice and will have to pay £50.
"It will be a case of 'pick it up or we'll pick you up'."
