PENDLE people will be asked for their views tomorrow on how half a million pounds of European money should be spent on IT projects.
The money from the European Regional Development Fund is available for community-based IT projects in Brierfield, Colne and Nelson.
An event entitled This Is It - Are You Plugged In? will be held between noon and 4pm tomorrow in the Pendle Rise Shopping Centre, Nelson.
It will give people living in Pendle the chance to discuss their IT needs, come up with ideas for how the money should be spent and get advice about getting involved in community IT projects.
Shoppers will also have the chance to learn about computer-aided design, see how web sites are constructed, learn how to surf the net or use computer clip art.
Nelson and Colne College, Northern Technologies, 3B Systems, Lancashire Youth and Community Services, and Pendle Council will be organising demonstrations and providing advice.
Paul Crowther, Nelson community economic development officer, said: "We hope that this event will show people that IT is exciting and relevant and that there are plenty of opportunities to get involved.
"We hope to create a party atmosphere with IT demonstrations and free balloons.
"We want to speak to people with bags of good ideas for spending this IT cash and if you're still getting to grips with the basics we'll show you how to switch a computer on and type a letter."
