I WOULD like to thank your readers for the wonderful support The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association received for its "Don't be an April Fool -- Safer Streets" campaign.
The reaction from the public and local authorities to our call to make pedestrian areas safer for blind and partially-sighted people has been fantastic.
We have been really encouraged by the number of people who have cut back their overhanging branches and foliage -- the number one hazard identified by guide dog owners.
I also appeal to local residents to support "Shades for a Day" on Tuesday, July 16. All you have to do is wear your sunglasses for the day, donate £1 and look cool for Guide Dogs. It is ideal for schools and local businesses -- for further information call 0118 983 8228 or long on to www.guidedogs.org.uk
