A COUNCIL delegation visiting the twin German town of Bocholt in September have been asked to bring along a dozen free range Rossendale eggs and some local spring water!
The eggs are to make a European omelette and the spring water is to be used in a proposed mass at St George's Church in Bocholt.
Rossendale and Bocholt are celebrating 50 years of the twinning arrangement this year -- one of the longest twinning relationships in the country.
In a report to the corporate policy committee on Wednesday, Councillors will be told about the planned visit on September 28 and 29.
The weekend also marks important anniversaries of Bocholt's other twin towns Bocholt in Belgium and Auriac in France.
There is also an invitation for a delegation of groups from Bocholt to visit Rossendale from October 12 to 15.
Rossendale Scout Band will perform a musical event together with music groups from Bocholt and sporting groups will also be visiting.
A piece of sculpture is also being considered by Bocholt based on light and water and Rossendale is being asked to find a suitable location with an electricity supply.
The council has got a budget for 50th anniversary projects and so finances should be available.
