LEE Sanderson and Gareth Price have both gone on loan to Super League clubs in a bid to help Leigh Centurions' promotion push writes Mike Hulme
Scrum-half Sanderson and front rower Price will spend the next month with St Helens and London Broncos respectively and then return to Hilton Park as the play-off race hots up.
Coach Paul Terzis fully expects Sanderson and Price to make big impacts in Leigh's senior side when they return in mid-July.
"Both have been on the fringes of senior action at Leigh and a month away training and playing full-time can only benefit them and us in the long run," he says. "There's no question of them going permanently. They will be coming back to Leigh."
Terzis believes a four-week stint at Saints will particularly benefit Sanderson.
"Since he broke his jaw at Chorley, young Lee hasn't been able to force his way back into the top side. He's been in outstanding form in the Academy team but he's far too good for that level of competition. He's not benefiting at all from playing at that standard," adds Terzis.
"At Saints he will be training full-time and playing at a higher level so when he comes back to us he'll be ready for first team action at Leigh. John Duffy, Willie Swann and Simon Svabic have all been playing well in recent weeks but when Sandy returns he'll really be pushing those players hard for inclusion."
Terzis says that it's much the same for Welsh international Price who moved down to the capital this week.
"The Broncos rang to ask us for a front rower. The only one I was prepared to release was Gareth who was happy to commit himself to a month down there. Because of the strength and form of our front rowers, his time on the field has been limited. He too will come back a better player.
Best for them
"We can recall either or both of them at any time. It's all been done with the player and Leigh Centurions in mind. It's what's best for them and the club at this stage."
