SALE Sharks RUFC owner Brian Kennedy has no interest in taking over Bury Football Club but is still keen on a groundshare scheme with the Gigg Lane club.
That much is clear after Shakers joint chairman John Smith and Save Our Shakers fundraising chairman Neville Neville met up with the Sharks supremo on Friday.
Kennedy is keen to move his Zurich Premiership outfit away from their restricted Heywood Road set-up and sees Gigg Lane as an ideal option for a new base.
However, news that the Sharks could move north have been met by angry protests from fans of the south Manchester club who launched their own SOS campaign with the slogan 'Don't Bury Sale'.
It was thought that a 50-50 partnership would be possible with Kennedy but that now seems highly unlikely.
"At this moment in time Brian is still looking to put a package on the table that could benefit Bury FC," explained Neville.
"But we must be cautious and if a deal is agreed it must be right for Bury Football Club."
Negotiations will continue with the Sharks boss but the final decision must be made by the Shakers board of directors.
