League new boys Rileys Snooker Club got one over their close rivals Haideria to go to the top of the B Division.

A five wicket haul from Arshad Mahmood and fine batting performance from Liyaqat Feroze, Arif Akram and Asif Malik guided Rileys to a comfortable five wicket victory.

But spare a thought for Haideria's opener Khalil Ahmed who hit half of his side's total with a controlled innings that included just three boundaries.

But Ahmed lacked vital support as Mahmood ripped in to the Haideria attack and claimed two wickets in this first two overs with Tanvir Nazir and Imtiaz Nazir both dismissed without scoring.

Ahmed did his best to keep the total moving along and was helped briefly by Hanif Malik and Shamid Hussain who both scored nine -- and both fell victim to the enthusiastic and energetic 'old man' Liyaqat Feroze.

After Reza Hussain was clean bowled by veteran Shokat Ali in his first over, Yasser Hussain hit a quick seven before he became Ali's second victim.

Ahmed looked like he was going to carry his bat throughout the innings but in an attempt to boost Haideria's total, he was clean bowled by Ali.

In reply, Riley's got a steady start with Feroze displaying some masterful stroke play. Feroze and Asif Hussain put 22 runs on the board before the latter was trapped lbw by Yassir Hussain.

Riley's appeared to be coasting along but Sikander Khan and Farooq Khan were both dismissed by Hanif Malik in the tenth over who then claimed the vital wicket of Feroze in his next over to leave Riley's on 47-4.

But the hard-hitting Arif Akram and Asif Malik came in to steady the ship and the pair should have guided Rileys to victory until Akram was bowled by Hussain so it was left to Malik and Ali to hit the winning runs.
