THE future of Bury's council houses comes under the microscope when experts report back with their findings.

Tenants are invited to the first of a series of "feedback" meetings to hear the verdict from consultants.

Town hall bosses are looking at a range of options, from sell-off to setting up an arm's-length management company.

The council appointed the Housing Quality Network (HQN) to consider the options, and HQN's views will be unveiled on Thursday July 4, beginning at 9.45am in Bury Town Hall's Elizabethan Suite.

Councillor John Smith, housing spokesman, said Bury had invited tenants and staff from other areas to the meeting, so that Bury people could hear their experiences.

He added: ""We are determined to give our tenants as much information as possible so they can make well-informed decisions.

"We hope there will be a good turn out on July 4 and we will be asking those who come along to give us their opinions on how they would like to see the consultation process shaped."

THE future of Bury's housing will also be discussed at the next meeting of the Tenants and Residents Consultative Committee (TRACC). This is on Thursday (June 27) at 6pm at Bury Town Hall. For information, phone Gill Hamblett on 253 5548.
