THE mum of a Burnley youngster hoping to travel to Hungary for special medical treatment has appealed for help with the cost of the trip.

Anita Graham, of Waddington Avenue, is trying to raise £15,000 to send her five-year-old son Jamie to the Peto Institute in Hungary, a world specialist centre for conductive education for cerebral palsy sufferers.

Anita hopes the centre will help improve Jamie's development but, despite the trip being booked, the family are still £2,600 short of the total.

Anita, 34, said: "Everyone has done really well to raise so much already, but we are still short and time is rapidly running out.

"It would mean so much if we could raise just that little bit more to make the trip a success. I would be really grateful and so would Jamie for any help anyone can give us."

The Hungary trip had been scheduled for the end of March but the family had to postpone the trip until August as the youngster has suffered major problems with his pelvis and hips. Jamie had an operation at Liverpool's Alder Hey Hospital to put his hips back in their sockets and will now spend the next four weeks in plaster.

Burnley General Hospital are helping to raise cash with various fundraising events and a fun day is due to be held at Plumbe Street Miner's club on July 25.

Jamie's school Healey Wood Infants held a Spring disco on March 7 and a Pyjamas Day on March 14 to help them along.

And Burnley Lions have also pitched in with a race night in aid of the trip on March 22.
