ALMOST 1,000 schoolchildren will be enjoying a summer of fun this year hosted by Burnley Football Club's community team.
A grant of over £140,000 from the New Opportunities Fund will go toward providing a series of activities for children from the Burnley area.
Football, netball and aerobics are among the activities on offer when children will also be given advice on how to achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle, learning about the human body and what makes it tick.
Turf Moor Leisure centre will be one venue and the children involved will also get a trip to the National Football Museum at Preston's Deepdale Stadium.
"We have targeted 900 local schoolchildren for these summer schools and they are ball free. They will last for one week each and there will be six throughout the summer holidays," said a club spokesman.
"The first week starts on July 8 and the last one will end on August 16, each day starting at 9.45am and ending at 3pm."
