GERMANY will play Brazil in the World Cup for the first time ever in Sunday's Final after the South Americans beat Turkey 1-0 in today's semi-final.
Four times champs Brazil needed Ronaldo's sixth goal of the tournament on 48 minutes to separate them from a plucky Turkish side who never gave up.
He turned well, with great speed, and toepoked the ball towards goal where Rustu was only able to turn it onto the inside of the post and in the net.
It was an enthralling game with the silky skills of Ronaldo and Rivaldo easily matched by the endeavour of a fine Turkish side who could play a bit themselves, too!
Chances at both ends meant Brazil's one goal lead always left the door ajar for Turkey to equalise, but despite a storming finish they could not achieve the reward their effort deserved.
Rivaldo and Ronaldo were both prominent, but Turkey looked dangerous on the break, belying their status as 80-1 outsiders to win the tournament before it began.
Rustu in the Turkish goal made a series of fine saves to thwart Brazil and after one challenge from Ronaldo a free for all broke out between several players, but Danish referee Kim Milton Neilsen, who famously sent David Beckham off in France 98, took no action.
The skirmish continued as the players left the field after an enthralling first-half.
England players watching back at home must be admiring the spirit and adventure of Turkey - something they had so sadly lacked in their quarter-final clash with the South Americans last Friday.
Brazil beat Turkey 2-1 in their group game which was marked by controversy after Rivaldo pretended Hakan Unsal had kicked the ball in his face when in fact it hit his shins - the Turk received a second yellow card and was dismissed.
