A PENSIONER suffered a broken wrist after a "cowardly" teenage robber stole her handbag.
She was walking along Ormrod Street towards Pimhole Road, Bury, at 3.45pm yesterday when the thief snatched her bag from behind.
The 75-year-old tried to hold on, but was pulled to the ground and suffered cuts and bruises to both knees, a grazed chin and a fractured wrist.
The attacker then ran off. The bag contained the pensioner's purse, keys and bus pass.
Investigating officer PC Abdul Kahar said: "The victim has been left extremely shaken. It was a very cowardly robbery and it is very fortunate she was not more seriously hurt."
Today, police appealed for a mystery man and young girl who helped the pensioner to get in touch.
PC Kahar added: "They may have seen the robber and might be able to identify him."
The robber is described as around 5ft 10ins tall aged in his teens.
