WE are constantly reminded that a healthy diet is vital and 'we are what we eat'. This being so, one wonders whether the meat on our plates is as wholesome as we are led to believe.
Most of Britain's meat is produced on factory farms where the aim is to fatten the largest number of animals for slaughter in the shortest possible time, for the least possible cost.
The meat industry tries to mask the reality with misleading claims about high welfare standards.
Factory farming has a devastating impact upon animals, ourselves and the environment.
For those who wish to express their concerns a peaceful rally will be held in London on July 13 entitled: 'End Factory Farming Before it Ends Us'.
