'TO BE or not to be, that is the question' -- yes, our splendid bus station is in real danger of demise, because the Tithebarn masterplan decrees it stands in the way of progress, with more shops planned for the area.
The Bard himself would have agreed that we show a little common sense where planning is proposed. After all, Preston bus station was almost given 'listed status' not all that long ago probably with this regeneration in mind.
Indeed, we appear to be 'brainwashed' into believing -- by planners and developers -- that the Tithebarn scheme will be good for the new city and its people. However, to demolish a perfectly good structure, is folly indeed.
Why can't the development go ahead around the present bus station? Some may say all this rhetoric is 'Much Ado about Nothing'. Let's hope that 'All's Well that Ends Well' and we get a city to be proud of.
