KING of Swing Andy Prior is the new boy on The Strip.
The Leigh born big band leader, who followed in father's Johnny's music loving footsteps, reached the pinnacle of his career this week stepping into his hero Frank Sinatra's shoes.
Andy took up an offer for a one night stand he couldn't refuse -- in Las Vegas.
He was invited to front Ol' Blue Eyes' backing band, the Billy May Orchestra, at the Stardust, and 700 people turned up to dance the night away, loving every minute.
Andy was brought up with the sounds of big bands and since he was a youngster has led his own musicians, working his way to the top of his profession.
As for the world's gambling capital he loved it. Mind you what entertainer wouldn't enjoy the seering 100 degree heat of the desert and the carefree attitude of the punters?
It's a totally false place with luxury hotels that everyone should have the chance to see at least once in their lives.
Andy hopes his stunning performance will take him back to winning future dates there. I've no doubt it will and he deserves it.
He's come a long way since I, to my complete shame, "sang" with him after one too many scoops at the opening of Wigan Pier by the Queen 15 years ago!!! I still can't apologise enough.
