AFTER watching 'Lads Army' on television showing the rigorous, endurance and developing camaraderie of new recruits in the forces, I think it would be a good idea to send persistent offenders for a spell of military service where discipline and often hardship are the order of the day.

This may be preferable, in the eyes of victims, to just sending them to prison where they may be kicking their heels and possibly learning more evil from other inmates.

We have tried three strokes and you're out and the short, sharp shock -- all too short for many. Maybe it's time to try a new directive to wean lawbreakers away from crime, while at the same time, learning to live alongside of others with respect.
