ENJOY a fiesta full of Philippine fever this weekend. Blackpool Pleasure Beach will play host to the 21st Century Barrio Fiesta in the Paradise Room this Saturday and Sunday to raise awareness for the Philippine Helping Hands Children's Foundation.
Entertainment from 11am to midnight on Saturday and 10am to 6pm on Sunday includes star cabaret, Philippine singer of 2002, marching bands, traditional folk dancing, Miss Philippine Charity UK 2002, raffle and surprise celebrity guests. An Anglo-Philippine trade fair will also be running.
The Fiesta will begin with a mass at 11am on Saturday and then be officially opened by Blackpool Mayor Ivan Taylor and consul to the Embassy of the Philippines, Lilybeth R Deapera.
And Sunday is the Blackpool debut for Asian singing star Ladine who is billed as "the greatest singer the Philippines has ever produced". Ladine, 22, hosts her own weekly TV show in the Philippines and has just launched an album in London called How Can I Make You Love Me?
Admission to both days is free but donations of children's toys, reading books, drawing books, pencils, pens and crayons etc will be gratefully received. Call (01253) 627596 for more information.
