A STALWART of Bury Arts and Crafts Centre has said a fond farewell.
Sue Furnival is retiring after a career of almost 40 years as a part-time teacher.
Sue, who lives in Hawkshaw, ran very popular and over-subscribed classes in painting, print making and batik.
She was a volunteer in several management roles over the years, being a member of the user management committee, the centenary and fund-raising committees, and a member of the former governing body.
She was also at the forefront of the fight to secure the future of the Broad Street centre.
Centre members and friends wished her a long and happy retirement.
Mr Harold Williams, Bury Council's director of education and culture, presented her with jewellery and flowers from the management committee, and donations from students and friends.
