A TEENAGER was smacked in the face with a piece of wood in a late-night road rage attack by a fellow motorist who had tried to overtake him.
The 19-year-old from Kendal was driving to Lancaster on the A6 and was in the Carnforth area when he noticed a driver behind him trying to overtake.
Concerned by the speed of the driver in the 30mph zone and the man's dangerous driving, he pulled out to prevent this.
The other driver then began flashing his lights and gesturing, instructing the man, who was in the car with two friends, to pull over, which he eventually did at a lay-by close to Borwick Lane and Pine Lakes.
The man stormed across to the other car, opened the door, and used an 18in plank of wood, said to be similar in shape to a baseball bat, to attack the driver, causing a cut to his bottom lip as well as bruising and swelling.
The attacker' s car was described as a black coloured, late model Ford Escort, G registered with either 222 or 333 included in the registration.
His victim drove a light blue Peugeot 205.
The man is described as while, tall, of slim build with short hair and dark eyes.
The incident took place between 10pm and 11pm on Tuesday, July 11.
Anyone with any information on the incident is asked to contact Lancaster Police on 01524 63333.
