TWO students were indecently assaulted in separate daylight attacks in Lancaster last week.

The attacks are not being linked, but have been described by police as 'disgusting and degrading.'

On Thursday night, a 21-year-old woman was walking down Moor Lane when a man ran up behind her and pushed her against the wall of a car park.

The woman was then indecently assaulted by the man who ran away, making indecent comments to the woman.

The incident took place between 7.15pm and 7.30am.

The attacker is described as white, around 21 years old with short, dark brown hair, spiked to the front.

He wore a hooded sports zipped top with a logo on the back, jogging pants tucked into his socks and boots.

The second incident saw a 29-year-old overseas student attacked while riding her bike along the cycle path to the university, close to its junction with the A6 at Collingham Park.

A man began to shout indecent and abusive comments at the woman before pulling her off the bike and carrying out an indecent assault while crouched over her.

The man then ran off in the direction of Lancaster city centre.

He is described as white, in his early 40s, 5ft 5in tall with red cheeks, with short, brown hair.

He was wearing dark brown or green jeans and a blue, short sleeved, teeshirt, possibly with a white stripe.

The victim is said to have been very distressed by her ordeal.

Det Sgt Mark Salisbury said: "These are particularly disgusting and degrading offence and if anyone knows who is responsible we would ask them to contact Lancaster police station on 01524 63333."
