THE MBI's suggestions for a skateboarding park site border on the ridiculous.

The town hall site (which was suggested as a joke by an hotelier some months ago) is chosen because of its topography, size and location.

The West Promenade site on the other hand is on a narrow piece of land in a residential area close to nationally graded, quality assured guest houses and hotels.

People who stay at these hotels do so to enjoy the gardens, the prom and the views over the bay.

They do not want to be captive spectators to an aggressive skating venue.

Does Cllr Heath want to see the demise of properties like these? Their owners have invested a great deal of money and worked hard to bring them up to a high standard.

Skateboarding is a highly skilled and sometimes dangerous sport and any venue surely should be on a site where it can be supervised and all health and safety issues attended.

Perhaps room could be found at Salt Ayre, within reach by car, public transport or bike from many parts of the district.
