A THIEF who snatched a bundle of notes from a Blackpool post office counter was chased down the street and brought down by two "have-a-go" men who had been queuing at the counter. The raider then threw some of the cash on to the ground and got away.
As the postmaster at Revoe post office, Central Drive, slid a £144 benefit payment in to the counter tray for a 47-year-old woman on Monday morning, the man reached over her shoulder and grabbed the cash and benefit book.
The thief is described as a white male, about 6ft 1in tall, around 50 and thick-set. He had short, possibly receding dark hair, a bruise on his left eye and a scab or sore on the left side of his lip. He wore a white waist-length jacket.
During the scuffle with the customers, the man lost his glasses which the police have retained for fingerprint testing. Call (01253) 293933 with any information.
