THERE'LL be high lights a-plenty in Blackpool's Illuminations this year -- the attractions include a spectacular Greek temple tableau featuring real fire and water.
The showpiece display, unveiled at a recent open day, includes real fountains and giant Roman gladiators holding lit torches.
Also new this year are four 9ft traditional illuminated boxes depicting different animals, 24 giant Illuminations cameras, 24 huge illuminated jelly monsters, and a pylon parade of high-tech strobes.
The six-mile long Illuminations, sponsored by TXU Energi for the second year running, will shine from August 30 to November 3.
Illuminations manager Richard Ryan promised a brilliant display. "Without giving any secrets away, I can say that this year will be the most spectacular ever. New technology, radical designs and the biggest idea ever undertaken at the Blackpool Illuminations will provide a great show to visitors, locals and everyone involved."
