THE world of fashion will meet the world of recycling head on at the 'Recycling On The Runway' fashion show at The Dome in Morecambe on June 28.
The event has been organised by the Wildlife Trust's project REthink and Morecambe Youth Cafe and aims to highlight the problem of Lancashire's rubbish mountain that grows by the height of Blackpool Tower every year.
The UK throws away a staggering 650,000 tonnes of textiles every year.
Where does it all go? - To landfill which will soon be full to capacity in Lancashire.
If we all bought just one garment a year from a charity shop instead of buying new we would save 371 million gallons of water, 480 tonnes of chemical dyes and 4517 days of the average family's electricity.
Fashion conscious young people have been getting a fashion conscience and following the example of top designers such as Stella McCartney they have been reusing and recycling old clothes and textiles to create cutting edge designs for this fashion extravaganza.
The fashion show is from 7-9pm followed by a disco from 9-11pm.
With recycled fashion, celebrities, talented local musicians, street dance, green stalls, global art and a juice bar this is a night not to be missed and all for just £ 1.50.
Tickets and info available from the Caf on 414440.
