AS Bury Football Club emerges from administration I fear that it is in its most precarious position ever.
Some fans are under the impression that for the Shakers this is a fresh start with all the debts having been wiped out. Nothing could be further from the truth. My understanding is that for the next four years they must pay-off creditors at a rate of around £6,000 per week.
For me what is even more troubling is that the people left running the club are, in essence, the same ones that were there before. Whilst it may have made perfectly good sense for existing directors John Smith and Fred Mason to take charge of the club through administration, and to help keep some continuity, I now firmly believed it is time for them to step aside.
It is quite clear to me that they have neither the confidence nor the ability to take the club forward. Having also read extracts from Mr Neville's speech to his fundraisers, I am amazed as to why he refused to form a partnership with a party that was prepared to put in some £300,000.
