SOME advice to joint chairman John Smith and Fred Mason, and the people with a say in the future of Bury Football Club.
Think positive: we are very lucky to still have a football club. Get a business plan together and ensure expenditure does not exceed income. Accept we are in the third division. We could have a reasonable season as we are not alone in having to operate on a limited budget.
Also, do not forget the true supporters who dug deep to help save the club. Things like changing the club badge without consultation does not go down well. And what has happened to Forever Bury and one member, one vote?
Finally, I do not think Brian Kennedy of Sale Sharks would ever be our saviour. His love is rugby and with the Sharks averaging gates of 4,000, and reportedly needing 10,000 to break even, he surely has enough on his plate.
We are not the first club he has been linked with, no doubt because Sale rugby ground is a prime site for quality homes, though I doubt that Bury FC would see any of this money.
Comments attributed to Mr Kennedy on Teletext recently suggested that Bury FC would have to be run as a business and that the Shakers would even have to pay him rent!
