A MAN has appeared in court charged with the murder of Bury man Rupert Satchell .

Gary Kelly, aged 30, of David Lewis Close, Rochdale, made a brief appearance in the dock at Bury Magistrates Court, accused of killing the father-of-three.

Mr Satchell, aged 42, was discovered with bullet wounds to the chest at a council house in Goldfinch Drive on the "Dicky Bird" estate in the early hours of May 23.

Kelly, who was handcuffed and flanked by two security officers, spoke only to confirm his name and address. He was remanded in custody until a preliminary hearing at Manchester Crown Court on July 4.

No application for bail was made, and the hearing yesterday lasted less than 10 minutes.

Kelly was arrested on Tuesday, but the investigation is continuing.
