SO Blackburn market traders are complaining again (LET, June 13).
It's not long since they were moaning about the closure of Church Street, which is a boon for us older people, giving us somewhere to sit and enjoy the town.
Now, it's the council giving us some variety of shopping with their French market that the traders resent.
I remember when markets were markets -- outdoors with atmosphere and value-for-money goods. Nowadays, because of the same market traders complaining, Blackburn's market is indoors and heated and at great expense to us, the local tax payers. All this must have cost us a fortune over recent years and still they are not satisfied.
I would suggest that if these market traders are not happy with their lot they should pack up and go home to their luxury hours.
If they want to stay in this town, they should concentrate on providing better quality goods and services, like real market traders did in much worse conditions.
ARTHUR GREENHALGH, St Michael's Court, Blackburn.
