A TEENAGER was due to undergo surgery after he was slashed seven times early today.
The 18-year-old, who has not been named, received chest, leg and arm injuries in an incident in Barnoldswick at 12.15am.
The incident took place near to the post office in Gisburn Road.
Police sealed off the area while scenes of crime officers searched the location.
A number of other youths were in the area at the time and police were called in by an ambulance crew from Nelson who attended the scene.
Detective Sergeant Steve Mounsey said: "The youth has several slash wounds on different parts of his body and they are not thought to be life threatening.
"No-one has been arrested at this stage and CID officers will be back in the area today speaking to witnesses.
"No knife has been recovered and it is too early to say exactly what sort of knife was used in the incident.
"I would ask anyone who witnessed the incident to contact myself on 01282 425001."
Police confirmed the teenager had been involved in another incident the previous week.
