REGARDING Hyndburn Council's dress code, good for Councillor Peter Clarke (Letters, June 19).
The leader of the council should be ashamed of himself for attempting to lower standards of dress.
No wonder we have a lack of discipline and pride in the area when such a poor example is set by our so-called leaders.
What sort of message is Councillor Ian Ormerod trying to convey? How scruffy can we get?
He should be raising standards and insisting that he and his colleagues set a good example to young and old alike.
How can he expect the respect and support of the electorate if he encourages sloppiness and a lack of respect for the position he holds?
Smarten up, Ian, before it is too late.
FRANK WOODWORTH, Cliffe Park, Great Harwood.
