SO that is it, it's all over for another four years.
The best team won and we can't always say that so no matter what weaknesses there have been, it has not been a bad World Cup.
But what a finish -- the best keeper in the tournament makes a tragic error and it is no surprise the German skipper was so angry with himself. Definitely the wrath of Kahn.
But Ollie did not deserve to be the man who lost his country the Cup so thank heavens he was beaten by a goal fashioned on Copa-Cabana beach.
A ball in from the right, a step over by Rivaldo and the man with the dodgy haircut simply passed the ball into the net.
For the Germans it was definitely a bad herr day!
Fair play to them however, as that was the best game they played in the whole tournament and it was a rarity, an entertaining final.
But the man who had a fit before the last final was thankfully fully fit for this one and didn't the boy Ronaldo do well.
The tournament has been slagged off from many quarters for the failure of the fancied teams, their early departure apparently devaluing it.
Maybe, but never mind the quality, feel the shocks. If you can't beat Senegal, Korea, Sweden etc, you don't deserve to go through.
Brazil played seven games and they won them all. That is the way to win the World Cup.
As for their match with Costa Rica it was one of the best I have seen in three decades of watching the beautiful game.
I don't care but for the rest of England the tournament appeared to turn into a damp squib once we went out.
I've had a great month and for that I thank Ronaldo, Bruno Metsu, South Korea and England against Argentina.
I personally can't wait until four years time when it all starts again.
