AN equality scheme has been introduced by Burnley Health Care NHS Trust to improve equal opportunities and promote good relations between people of different ethnic groups.
The trust has already achieved much in this area including being awarded Investors in People status, holding the two ticks disability award, carrying out staff opinion surveys and working to reduce workplace bullying, harassment or discrimination.
Chief executive David Chew said: "Over the years the trust has endeavoured to provide equal access to services and equal opportunity for employment to every individual in the community.
"We value the richness that diversity brings to the organisation. The trust is justifiably proud of the reputation it has gained and recognition it has received around the region and from local minority communities for the efforts it has made to meet the needs of the minority groups.
"The publication of the equality scheme gives us a further opportunity to demonstrate our commitment."
