TWO brothers were jailed after trouble involving a journalist who complained to police about loud music at a party.
Andrew Belshaw, 35, was sent to jail for 12 months after attacking former Foreign Office employee Anthony Bell and Stephen Belshaw, 31, was given three months. Both appeared before Judge David Pirie for sentence at Burnley Crown Court.
Andrew Belshaw of Duckworth Street, Barrowford, had earlier been convicted of assaulting Mr Bell, causing him actual bodily harm, after a trial lasting more than a week.
Stephen Belshaw, of Brownhill Avenue, Burnley, was cleared of the assault charge but had been found guilty of two charges of witness intimnidation.
He had earlier also been acquitted of a further intimidation allegation on the judge's direction. Both defendants had denied all charges.
The jury had been told that Mr Bell, who then lived in the same block of flats as Stephen Belshaw, was beaten up after he complained to police about loud music at a party.
Mr Bell, 62, was left injured under some bushes after he was struck with a bottle by Andrew Belshaw.
Stephen Belshaw, who had been alleged to have joined in the violence, then went on to intimidate two neighbours who made statements to the police.
