REGARDING the comments by Paul Dixon (Letters, June 21) about zero tolerance for speeding, I was gutted to read that our Chief Constable Pauline Clare, introduced it to Lancashire after a fact-finding tour in Australia.
What has an underpopulated continent like Australia got to do with an overpopulated county like Lancashire?
Does Mrs Clare realise how much alienation towards her police force from thousands of Lancastrians has come about?
Mr Dixon stated that he was once proud to be a member of a trained traffic department, but the zero tolerance adopted now would not stop the real accident-causing motorists. I have not been fined for speeding, but I know people who have and seen their dissatisfaction in Lancashire Police. They have lost all confidence.
