A MASKED knifeman stole cash from a till at a supermarket after threatening a cashier.
Following the raid at the Tesco store, off Bury New Road in Prestwich, the thug escaped in a stolen white Metro, driven by an accomplice.
The robber, who wore a black scarf over his face, entered the store at 9.35pm on Friday (July 28) and threatened a cashier with what police say was a carving knife.
He is believed to have stolen about £200 from the till before fleeing to the waiting car.
Police say the vehicle, stolen earlier that evening from the Welcome Inn pub in Whitefield, was later found abandoned in Highfield Road, Prestwich. Officers also recovered some cash from inside the car.
The knifeman, described as scruffy, had dark hair and was wearing a white jacket and socks over his hands. Anyone with information should call Whitefield CID on 856 8240.
