DOG owners are urged to take their pets for a "chip and snip"!
A series of canine roadshows is being held across the borough over the next two weeks to microchip dogs and have them neutered.
It's the latest move by the National Canine Defence League (NCDL), in partnership with Bury Council, to promote responsible dog ownership.
Pensioners and those on benefits will not have to pay, while the cost for others is a subsidised £9.50.
The unique ID number in the microchip helps confirm the dog's identity. This allows the dog to be quickly reunited with its owner if it is ever lost or stolen.
At the same events, a limited number of vouchers will be given to eligible people for free neutering of their pet dogs and bitches.
The dates and venues of the roadshows are:
Today (Tuesday July 2): Powell Street, Bury.
Wednesday July 3: Redbank playing fields car park, Unsworth Street, Radcliffe.
Thursday July 4: Prince Albert car park, Ribble Drive, Whitefield.
Monday July 8: Fern Street, Peel Brow, Ramsbottom.
Tuesday July 9: SGG Construction car park, Albert Close/Furness Avenue, Whitefield.
Wednesday July 10: Phoenix centre car park, St. Mary's Park, St.Mary's Road, Prestwich.
Thursday July 11: Brandlesholme Pub car park, Garside Hey Road/Brandlesholme, Bury.
All the roadshows run from 10am to 4pm. The NCDL recommends that all dogs brought for microchipping are vaccinated. Puppies under 12 weeks, however, can not be microchipped.
